After-Christmas Shopping------> Continued!!!

I really had no idea that I would be doing so much shopping today.  So I hit the grand ol' mall with my bestie and our kids and guess what caught my eye as I was walking by an accessory store...a hot pink feather mini Christmas tree!  (the one in the pic is exactly like it but a different color)Two of them just had to come home with me.  They are so tickling-awesome and make me want to rub them against my skin.  I am super excited for next Christmas because by then, we will be in our new house and we will have all these colorful trees everywhere.  Okay aside from that- a purple purse left with me and some more trinkets (earrings, rings, & bracelets and such).  Who could beat the ever-so-tempting sales, right?  Oh and before I forget, I came across this awesome website called zazzle.com that has a 75% off sale going on right now on Customized Christmas Cards which I already ordered for next year and they also have customized Thank you cards.  So check them out!

I also bought some antiqued brown high boots and some wrist cuffs (i am so loving colorful, striped, and checkered wrist cuffs right now- they're soooo fun and also a great wrist protector for pole exercises! hahaha)

But the most important thing I bought today were my vitamins from GNC!  They were having a 2 for 1 special on beWholesome and I am trying out some new vitamins called beBeautiful that are GOOOD for your hair, skin, and nails.  We must not only look/feel good on the outside but we have to take care of ourselves from within as well.

Be good to your self- YOU are the only you've got!

After-Christmas Shopping ~ inspired by the color Purple!

Oooooo Weeeeee!  I'm so happy- I went for a little After-Christmas shopping today.  I found some fabulous deals on Christmas decor at Big Lots (where I always go to get super-cheap wrapping paper, like $1 a roll and if you wait longer it goes to 50 cents a roll) while I was there, I grabbed a couple of 24 inch PURPLE Christmas trees with PURPLE lights!  Yay!!! You all know how much I love purple!!  The color makes me feel all glowy inside.  Now I can't wait for next year's Christmas to come so I can put out my purple-y trees.  And for sure, next year, we will definitely be getting a white tree so I can decorate it with PURPLE ornaments.

Speaking of PURPLE ornaments and stuff- I came across ThePurpleStore.com and found some really groovy purple ornaments and home decor.  O-M-G I'm gonna have a field day!

Just a word of caution: be super careful out there because it is soooooo crazy!  But there is nothing better than getting some great things that are much cheaper than retail!

Have a delightful shopping experience.

A Very Magical Christmas

As I look back on our Christmas day, I am reminded of the many blessings that we were given.  Yesterday was filled with the definite love and joy of family and our closest friends.  The magic of Christmas filled our home a few hours before it hit midnight on Christmas Eve.  My little one scurried through the house to prepare for the arrival of good ol' Saint Nick.  The reindeer dust was sprinkled throughout the front yard and the letter to Santa was hand-written in the most neatest 6 year old handwriting ever!  The cookies were laid out, and the glass of milk poured, waiting patiently on the side table that laid near my little boy's head as he layed himself to sleep.  It was a restless night for me but a rather peaceful night for my son, I almost wondered if he was dreaming of sugar plums danced in his little head.  I was awaken in the morning by him presenting the letter that Santa had written back to him and a full report of the devoured cookies, the empty glass, and the stack of presents that lay on his side table.  The usual crumbled wrapping paper, empty boxes, and Christmas bows scattered about the place and us not caring that the house was a complete mess.  We were later graced with the presence of wonderful friends and our much older children.  We feasted on some awesome grub, we laughed, we prayed, and we all felt the joy and peace of the spirit of Christmas.  I am almost saddened that the day went by rather quick but knowing that every minute was definitely worth it.  These were our blessings!  The laughter of the children in the background and the satisfied sighs of the adults cherishing the last bite of their custard pie.  Could it get any better than this?  It was indeed a very magical Christmas!

Hoping that you all out there had a very Sweet and Merry Christmas and that you were able to cherish in your blessings for the day.

Happy Holidays!

Peace & Love

These Boots Were Made For Walking & Turning a Head or Two

I'm falling in lust over booties this winter!  Apparently they are showing up all over the place.  During my Thanksgiving shopping adventure, when I took a 45 minute cruise to the Primm Fashion Outlets, I snatched up a pair of awesomely cheap bebe peeptoe studded heel booties!  OMG-They were only $25 plus tax, come on' now when will you ever have the chance to grab some bebe booties for that price?  Hardly ever, right?  I just couldn't resist. So I wore them out this last Saturday and I got the best compliment when a very artistic lady said, "Wow, now those ARE shoes!" I paired them with a pair of black harem hammer pants and a blingy top~ hehehe  Also they are ultra comfy and great to walk in.

Then along the same lines, ShoeDazzle, my favorite online shoe place with their awesome prices, came out with the Raven!  This is a tough bootie check out the rugged soles on that thing- but yet ultra chic.

I remember last year, I bought these pair of brown microsuede booties with bows on the back and wore it with a pair of brown/yellow plaid shorts and opaque tights underneath, topped it with a sweater and yellow pearls.  Sounds crazy but I loved it!

Check out these booties, I'm in love with the feathers on my feet- brings such a tingly ticklish sensation all over!!  There's so fly!  But apparently too high for my budget...I'll just stare at them for now.

Are booties on your wishlist this year? Happy Walking... ;)

In The Spirit of Giving

I am soooo in the spirit of giving this season!  With so many people out of jobs and out of homes, I realized that there are so many simple things that we normally take for granted.  It made me shift my thinking just a little.  The holiday season usually has me in the spirit of giving but this year it's a bit different, I prefer giving to the less fortunate, yes the family members will get their gifts of course- But I found myself giving more and donating more than ever before.  I think I have done more searches on donating than on online shopping!  It's the second week of December and I have only bought 2 Christmas gifts, one for my youngest son and the other for a close family friend.  I have become more occupied with giving back!

A week ago, I helped fund a loan for a lady in the Philippines who raises pigs for a living to support her family of 8 children.  I stumbled upon a great organization, www.kiva.org that allows entrepreneurs in developing countries to obtain a small loan to build their business.  The funds that I loaned will eventually get repaid, which then gets put back into my account to help another entrepreneur in another country, if I wish.  This week, I came across www.Soles4Souls.org Did you know that over 300 million children in the world do not own shoes?  I can relate to this...as I was one of those poor children walking barefooted in the muddy terrain of a third world country (rewind back 28 years ago).  Hence, my present-addiction to shoes.  Now with my closet-full of shoes and a garage-converted-shoe-closet, I would love to give up some of my shoes for those who so need it!!!  So if  you are like me and are drowning in shoes, donate some of your gently used shoes.  Or if you looooovve your shoes too much, you can donate $5 for a pair of flip flops or $10 for a pair of clogs.  Please shoot me an email, to arrange that.

There are other ways to give as well- I have a friend who is asking for new items to go to the NV Partnership for Homeless Youth.  Which is an awesome way to give to homeless children and teens who are in need of necessary items such as clothes, socks, and basic hygiene products, etc.  If you have any items to give away, please let me know since items will be dropped off this Saturday.

Time is also another great resource that we have or don't have but is priceless nonetheless when we give away some of it.  Time is such a valuable thing and by volunteering a few hours of your day at a soup kitchen or a shelter, it becomes sooo gratifying!  Check out www.volunteercentersn.org for volunteer projects in the area.

Have a Happy and Giving Holiday Season!

Product Review Update: Clinique Even Better

Back at the end of October, I started a new face regimen with Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Corrector.  And I said I would give you an update of how effective the product was in doing what it said it was supposed to do after 4 weeks.  My purpose in using the Skin Tone Corrector was to diminish the age spots (small brown spots) caused by sun damage as well as even out my complexion.

The package says the product will: "virtually undo the visible evidence of sun damage, dark patches, skin stresses, age spots, even the darkening that follows acne scarring."

Yes, I am happy to say that it is doing just that for me, it may be a slow process and can take a while to notice the results but the important part is that my $40 didn't just go to waste on another useless skincare item.  As you know results may vary on different individuals.  I will also say that the instructions ask that you apply it twice a day.  I have only had the chance to apply the product once a day and it seems to be working gradually.  If I can only remember to apply it twice a day on my face, I would probably see faster results.  Anyhow I would recommend this product to others.  But I will warn you that I have read mixed reviews and that it may not work on everyone, perhaps depending on your skin type.  (I have combination skin)  This is going to get 4 stars out 5 from me only because the small 1.0 ounce bottle is quite pricey for $40.

On a positive note- I am liking my clearer complexion.

Look good & Feel better!

Are You Loyal to Your Makeup?

I have been an avid M.A.C. cosmetics-user/collector for many years.  I am somewhat embarrased to say that I have spent a few thousand dollars in one year on M.A.C products (I know because I once spent all of my income tax refund check just on makeup alone- who does that, right?). I eventually had to sell what I was not using.  Am I addicted to M.A.C- umm maybe...ok yes!  But lately in the past year, I have been eye-ing other product lines.  I'm not cheating on M.A.C- maybe just taking a short separation.  Don't get me wrong, I still love M.A.C.  He has great eyeshadows, pigments, slimshine, fluidline, and brushes as well.  The best part about M.A.C is his recycling program.  Return 6 empty plastic containers and get one free lipstick!  Yay!  What other make-up line does that for you? (Oh did you notice me refer to MAC as a person...? To me- he is!)

So I'm due for more foundation and concealer and I'm thinking about trying MakeUp Forever or Giorgio Armani.  I've also ventured off and used Nars, Smashbox, Benefit, and Urban Decay.  There are many I would like to try, just hoping MAC doesn't get too jealous.  hehehe  This is where my product-junkie-self takes over.  But I feel that staying with MAC products for the rest of my makeup wearing life is being unfair to the other beautifully packaged and worthy products out there. I study quite a few professional make-up artists and yes M.A.C is just as much their household name as is Lysol, but there are other cosmetic lines that will do the job just as good or perhaps even better!

So the question for you all is, have you stuck with the same product line for quite some time?  If so, why the loyalty to one brand?

Dear MAC,
Don't hate me for this, but I would like to start seeing other brands.  Don't worry you're still my numero uno!  Trust me, it's not You, it's Me.  You've always been good to me.  I just feel like I'm missing out on something more exciting!  You still hold a place in my makeup bag and forever will.  Love, ME.

Closet Confession #4: A Beautiful Book that Reminds Me of My Ugly Past

If you are human, you've made your share of mistakes in your past.  I know I have had my share of them.  While I am not proud of some of the choices I have made; I am happy to know that they have transformed me into a stronger and better person.  I don't do too much revisiting of past memories, sometimes they can be devastatingly painful, some are better left forgotten, but at the same time, there's always a lesson to be learned from such bad decisions.  The ones I do love to revisit are the joyful memories.  Those should stick around forever and tickle the insides of your heart!

However, I will share with you one of the most ugliest moments of my past (I received a lot of whispers, judgements, and ugly looks from this one- so bear with me and please refrain from throwing your daggers) is when I was involved with a married man.  It was such a complicated time in my life and those who are close to me (back then and now), know what I was going through.  If you've ever been in a situation like this, then you know the emotional turmoil and despair that comes with such an embarrasing ordeal.  If you've never experienced your HEART and your MIND at war, well this is a perfect scenario to experience that.  When I became connected with the social networking site, Facebook, I reconnected with an old school friend who is now a critically-acclaimed author. It came as a surprise to me when I found out that my author friend, Naiomi Pitre, came out with an e-book called, "He Loves Me More, Even Though He's Still Married To Her!"  I just had to sit down and read it.  However, before reading it, I mentally prepared myself for any emotions and feelings that may come up to make my "inner-self" feel like a horrible person again.  I had to remind myself that I once was young and naive and that "LOVE" the powerful emotion that it is, had grabbed a strong hold of me by the collar!

As I sat down and read my friend's e-book, I couldn't help but nod in agreement at every sensible reaction "the other woman" was feeling.  I saw myself many years back saying and doing the same things.  I found myself justifying my actions and most importantly I was also compromising my own morals and values.  I hated myself for what I was doing behind people's backs but at the same time I was loving the excitement of faraway escapes and late night calls!  This book was meant for me but no, this was not my story; it's just very much like it.  Knowing that, I wondered about this "other woman" in the book.  Where is she now?  Who IS she?  I'm sure we went through similar heartbreaks and breakdowns during this period.  I only wish I would have read this book early on and it probably would have given me some clarity.  Who knows, I may have ended the illicit affair sooner than later.  Eight years ago I started writing a novel based on my story as "the mistress", it has been quite a struggle for me to finish it.  So I found much solace in reading my friend's book.

From the website: http://www.bestgirlfriendyouneverhad.com/ : "If you have ever been in the situation of being involved in an illicit affair with a married man, you MUST buy this valuable book that will open your eyes to what is REALLY going on! Get amazing tips, insight, and a behind-the-scenes peek at the diary of a mistress who has found herself in a sticky predicament! Order your secure download now!" Clickity click on this link!

The Door that Separates The Doormat and Self-Respect

We all, at one point or another, were emotionally halted by someone in our lives who had a complete hold of our being, whether it be a significant other, a close friend, a family member, co-worker, or employer.  Now you're tired of being the person who everyone takes advantage of.  You are probably known to be the most forgiving and kind person, right?  You are the one most people request favors from because those around you know that you are always willing and able. You run their errands, you babysit, you drive people around town, and you even get volunteered for tasks without you knowing.  Others have taken your kindness as your weakness and now you are just about fed up or have been fed up for quite some time. But for some reason, you can't seem to shake them and their behavior from affecting your life.  Although we have a strong desire to cut the relationship altogether due to their toxic behavior, we just don't know how or when this will happen. If you don't have that energy-draining person in your life, kudos to you and that means you have managed to erase them from your circle. But you also know that you reached that point at some time in the past and you were questioning yourself the same question that most of us now face. When do we stop letting the other person use us as their daily doormat and start respecting ourselves?

Each one of us has a different concept of the word "value" and how much we "value" the relationship we have with the other person. How much we value the relationship also has a direct correlation to how much "mistreatment" we are willing to take to keep that relationship. Sometimes we will lose our selves unknowingly because we have a strong "hold" to whatever keeps us connected to the other person. So why haven't you let go?

People fear the concept of appearing "selfish" more than they want to embrace the concept of "self-respect". I'm guilty of it myself. We must all start looking after ourselves first and foremost. This doesn't mean that we are selfish, we just need to respect ourselves more. In talking with someone yesterday, I learned that we must ask ourselves a personal question, "When will enough be enough?" There should be a point where self-respect takes over; There is a door that separates the doormat and self-respect. If we continue to let that type of behavior continue, we will end up feeling resentful and disappointed with ourselves. We must tell ourselves at what point will we draw the line. After you have confirmed that with yourself, tell that person who has been that "dead wood" in your river of life at what point you will cut it off completely. Be serious about it and follow through, otherwise the other person will just call your bluff.

It is never okay to allow another being to slander you, degrade you, emotionally, verbally, and physically hurt you. Nor is it okay to allow them to take advantage of you and your abilities over and over. Setting healthy boundaries is important for your sanity and for those who don't understand limits until you mark it in chalk. Believe me, there are those out there. They may have the best intentions and they think they know you are okay with how things are going but never underestimate the power of honesty. Be upfront and honest about your demands of respect. Don't allow them to make you feel guilty about your decisions. If they clearly don't have enough respect for you to understand your wants and needs, end the relationship completely. "You" are the one you will be with for the rest of your life. Treat "You" with the utmost respect.

Hugs with loads of love!

The Weekend of a Lonely Bird, 3-wheeled Car, Feathers, & Faces in Sacramento

I am just now recuperating from a memorable weekend in Sacramento!  Wow, so many good times were had.  Arch, Tonya, and I had an incredible laughter-addictive girlie-weekend.  This trip was meant to relieve some stress and I think that was successfully accomplished!  Yay!

Let me start by saying we flew Allegiant Air- that is a whole story in itself but later I will give you the short story of Allegiant Air!  It was Friday afternoon when we boarded this aircraft and it was announced that TSA was going to be boarding along with us for random security checks...hmmm.  At this point, Arch and I looked at each other with a questioning look.  WTH?  So as we pass the lady who took our boarding passes, she points down to Arch's carry-on bag and yells to the TSA agent, "You want that one?" Arch pauses and I increase my pace down the jetway. "oh crap" I thought...luckily they let her pass on by.

As we arrive Stockton Metro Airport, our adventure begins.  Tonya, who is Arch's long time friend, who is also our Sacramento-resident tour guide, meets us at the airport to take us to our rental car!  We are about a 45 minute-drive from Sacramento and all I could see when we get off the plane were meadows of green pastures.  I was not used to seeing California this way.  I was more used to traveling to Southern California with the traffic, smog, and tall buildings.

Maybe an hour later, after a pitstop to the nearest Starbucks, we pull up to Avis Rental Car (which was part rinky-dink car dealership lot and part car rental place), and I spot this blue car!
Wow!  Please tell me this is not our weekend rental?  But lo and behold I look to the left and we spot 5 Latino Men pushing a Ford down the lot...or please don't tell me that ONE is our car!  Are we in the Twilight Zone yet? We had Arch's husband fooled for about a day and a half telling him that the little blue 3-wheeled car was ours for the weekend.  And he was a bit concerned that the thing didn't come with helmets!!!  It may not have came with helmets but it did come with a rock to ludge under the tire to act as our emergency brake!!! lol

We were grateful that our hotel room was nice, clean, and comfortable!!!

That night we ate at The Hot Italian, a pizza and pannini bar, a swanky place with ultra-hip seating and a really cool atmosphere.  Arch, Tonya, and I met up with Lia who introduced us to the owner and brought us some wine.  The waiters/waitresses wear these really cool tshirts that have italian words on them & we spent pretty much the whole night trying to translate!  We "mangi-d" (or is it mangiare) on a pesto pizza and a prosciutto pizza, but the best part was the dessert!  I may have had a glimpse of heaven- this heavenly baked bread with hazelnut spread sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with berries is called Zucchero!  It definitely is to die for!

After dinner, clearly came dancing!!! We ended at Faces!!  Click on the link to learn about this awesome dance place.  We got there when it opened and stayed until the lights came on- but in Cali- you know everything closes at 2am- unlike the wee hours of the morning in Vegas!  But it was all good!  Faces is packed with just that, many different faces from many different sexual orientations and 3 or 4 awesome dance floors packed full of free love!  They even have an outdoor pool!  Our favorite was the video lounge- where they played R&B and Hip Hop videos.  I met a handful of friendly faces at this venue!

On Saturday, we strolled through Old Sacramento, got a glimpse of the Capital Building (breathtaking, BTW), and ate lunch at Fat City.  The ambience was historical and antique furnishings filled the place.  We sat next to this humongous card catalog sort of thing way back in the restaurant.

What was a bit eerie was when an old gentleman offered to take a picture of all 3 of us in the back corner of the restaurant, the photo was extremely dark and not too visible, and mind you, there was enough light and NO, it wasn't a camera defect.  But all the pictures taken at our table were fine.  We asked the old man to take numerous photos of us and they all came out the same. Hmmmm....

The funnest time we had was inside a costume mansion called Evangeline's.  I think we spent a good hour and a half in that place and then came back for seconds on Sunday afternoon.  A variety of hats adorned our heads while in Hat Land and I left Old Sac with a peacock feather hairpin, that was screaming, "oh bring me to Vegas, dahhhhling!" See picture but don't mind the bags under my eyes, I was functioning on 5 hours of sleep if even that.

ALso some crazy socks walked away with me from Sock City- who would've thought I'd buy $40 worth of socks!!!  Oh I can't forget to mention the Rocky Mountain Caramel Apple that we purchased on Saturday afternoon but didn't get eaten until Sunday afternoon.  We initially requested to not have it cut, for fear of it turning brown through oxidation, but for reals, we could not locate a good sturdy knife to cut the darn thing which was our reason for returning to Old Sac on Sunday!  We snacked on our traveling apple and 2 Malibu & Pineapples that afternoon!  It was great!!

So among other eventful things that happened, our stress-free weekend was capped off by getting back on the Lonely Bird- The Allegiant aircraft!!  I call this the lonely bird because it was the only plane that flew into Stockton "metro-port" business park.  It wasn't an airport, it was a business park!!!  The terminal had one gate, one security check, one check-in counter, one gift shop, one restroom, and a crowded room full of crazy amish looking people.  Why was I the only one to be patted-down and go through the extra long measure of security inspection in the crowd of people?  Was I the only one with a bellyring and a shirt with metallic adornments?  I guess so.  So after everyone boarded the plane, the employees of the terminal all went home and left the place looking like a ghost-town.  See the picture of the terminal from my wing-view seating!

One hour in the air = a mini bottle of Chardonnay for me + a mini bottle of Cabernet for Arch! To top it all off some crazy pictures of downing the bottle mid-air...(still awaiting the photographic evidence from Arch)!

Everyone needs one of these getaways!

Grab Your Bananas!

A couple of nights ago, I was sitting bedside in the hospital next to my best friend who has a heart condition (thank goodness she is okay now) and we overheard the woman who was in the bed next to her, arguing with the nurse and adamantly refusing to take her Potassium pill, although it was the doctor's orders.  (Our mouths dropped when the lady called this caring nurse- a "dumb bitch" as she walked away) This lady's potassium level was too low which may have caused problems with her heart, thus hospital admittance.

Here's a quick overview: Potassium is a mineral (electrolyte) in the body. Almost 98% of potassium is found inside the cells. Small changes in the level of potassium that is present outside the cells can have severe effects on the heart, nerves, and muscles.

Potassium is important to maintain several bodily functions:

•Muscles need potassium to contract.

•The heart muscle needs potassium to beat properly and regulate blood pressure.

The kidney is the main organ that controls the balance of potassium. It removes excess potassium into the urine.

When potassium levels are low (hypokalemia), you can become weak as cellular processes are impaired.

•The normal potassium level is 3.5-5.0 mEq/L (this is a measure used to evaluate the level). Low potassium is defined as a potassium level below 3.5 mEq/L.  (The lady in the hospital in the bed next to my friend had a potassium level of 3.2- ouch!)

•Almost one out of five people hospitalized in the United States has a low potassium level. Up to 14% of people otherwise seen in doctors' offices have slightly low potassium levels.

To learn more about potassium, click here.

So it just puzzled me why the woman in the hospital didn't want to increase her potassium level and accused the potassium medication of deteriorating her health!  This sounded so absurd to me. It does help to be educated of things especially related to your health.

When I first did hot yoga (Bikram yoga), at 105 degrees Farenheit with a 40% humidity, towards the end of the hour when I'm doing my Rabbit Pose (Sasangasana), I would get a horrible headache at the start of this pose.  I, later learned that it was due to a lack of potassium; and that I needed to eat a banana a couple of hours prior.  Bananas have miracle-working capabilities, let me tell you!  They are supplied with tons of minerals and vitamins that we humans need.  So don't forget to consume your 2 bananas daily!

Remember that when you feel good, you look good also.

BANANAS = a Happy Heart!

Closet Confession #3: Fondness For Things on My Head

Yes, I have a fondness for things on my head but not just any old thing, I have a great love for HATs!

"And all your future lies beneath your hat."~ John Oldham

Far far away and many many moons ago, I would sit on the floor and set my eyes on that gigantic wooden box in our living room and watch old black and white movies.  The fashion of the women in the old movies always amazed me.  They were so elegant and poised.  And the one thing I noticed a lot were their hats.  There's just something about hats that put a different spin on a person's wardrobe, their attitude, and their outlook.  To put it simply, hats are fun!

I wish many more people would see the life in hats and wear them proudly.  It puts a smile on my face to be out in public and spot a person lovingly wearing their hat.  It does however, bumms me when I spot people using hats as a "bad-hair-day-don't-want-to-show-off-my coif-while-I'm-runnin-errands" kind of accessory.  I don't think hats were meant to be used for that purpose although whomever came up with the idea may have seemed like a brilliant idea at that time- a lazy idea- but I guess somewhat brilliant nonetheless.

I wore my black and white plaid fedora (which by the way was on-sale & super cheap that my husband snagged for me at Tilly's- $4.99) to a football game!  Football isn't really my thing, but I thought I'd make it fun by sporting my fedora!  I played my own head-games while there (hahaha) and didn't mind the brisk wind that made my fingers numb.  I could've sported my hubby's ivory and black houndstooth LA Dodgers baseball cap like the one in the picture (but this one is a Red Sox one), which I bought for him and am now homesteading it!  It is a tad bit too big but it's all good.

Ohhhh and remember when J.Lo wore her floppy hat for the first time a few years ago?
When I went to the garment district in L.A., I grabbed me one and I still have it to this day.  From what I hear, it's making a comeback.  But nevermind that, it's fun and floppy and puts a smile on my face.  I think I last wore it to the Golden Nugget pool over the summer.  My favorite head accessory- is my top hat! It just takes me to a circus-y & Fosse type of world.

There are a couple more hats that I'd love to add to my collection.  I am lusting after the sexy and mysterious cocktail feather hat.  It  is so 1930's-1940's inspired, especially with the veil netting attached to it.  But since it's getting cold out now, my wishlist bears the furry Russian pom pom hat (reminds me of a strong Russian-man march), and the cute Panda Pilot hat (oui-oui)! (from Karmaloop.com)

If you don't have a love for hats, maybe you should rethink your decision:

"I have a hat. It is graceful and feminine and give me a certain dignity, as if I were attending a state funeral or something. Someday I may get up enough courage to wear it, instead of carrying it." ~ Erma Bombeck

I've been MIA but I'm back with some new things to share...

Okay, well I've been hibernating for a few days, relaxing and filling up my literary food tank.  Just completed a couple of great books this past week (both fiction and non-fiction).  If you know me, you know that I love all things related to beauty and fashion and I am a strong believer that true beauty comes from within yourself.  The outside appearance is just the icing on the cake or to put it another way- a great book with an eye-catching front jacket cover.  What better way to develop on your inner beauty by feeding yourself knowledge and stories you can learn from.  Reading a fantastic book feeds the soul and can transform you from within.  Needless to say it's also a great way to relax.

I completed "Why We Want You To Be Rich" by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump in one week.  Let me first say, that Kiyosaki's book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" changed my way of thinking back in 2006.  This is when I decided to start my own business.  I was determined to make my own wealth and start paying myself instead of making my employer rich.  So when a friend of mine (Naiomi Pitre) recommended to me another Kiyosaki book, I jumped on it right away.  And wow, the book gave me more insight than before on financial education.  The one thing that still puzzles me to this day is why our schools aren't teaching our kids who are technically "on their own" at the young age of 18 to have this financial knowledge under their belts as soon as they graduate.  Perhaps it's all a conspiracy of the government so that people of society are clueless to the fact that our country will be broke by the time the Baby Boomers will start retiring (which is now) and the "Social Security Wallet" will be dried out and empty.  Also when our children become adults this country will be in serious financial trouble (as we are seeing now).  Hmmm...Anyway I highly recommend this book so you can get an idea of where we (our country) are headed, if we are not already there now.  Boost your Financial IQ!!! It's worth it.

So after reading that book, I decided I'd take some down time and enjoy something else on a different level.  I love poems (reading and writing them, I usually write when I have time to ponder on a few things) so I ordered Naiomi Pitre's "How Nasty Is Too Nasty" CD- a collection of erotic Spoken Word poems performed by the artist herself.  It's quite romantic and soulful.  (It's perfect to listen to with your significant other- if you know what I mean!)  Later, I turned to her book, "In The Panty Drawer- Journey into a Mind of a Sexual Woman" which were a collection of short stories and poems.  And let me tell you, it is raw passion at it's finest!  I enjoyed it very much and completed it in a day.  I suggest you take a peak here.  Naiomi Pitre is a very talented unique author.  I also highly recommend her as your one of your bedside books.

I'd love to know what you thought after reading these books, feel free to leave comments or email me.

Your innerself may be asking for a make-over!

Closet Confession #2: I'm a Product-Junkie

Hello lovelies,

"Hi.  My name is Chruszhet (audience responce: Hello Chruszhet) and I'm a Product-Junkie!"  What can I say, it's so sad but true! This past weekend- I decided to accompany my Bestie to the mall (while our hubbies did their Sunday ritual- making a raucous in front of the big screen watching NFL football).  After scarfing down a Spam Musubi, I made my first purchase at the Clinique counter inside Macy's.  This is what I bought:

The Even Better Skin Tone Corrector

It's for correcting uneven skin tone and undo-ing visible sun-damage, dark spots, age spots, yada yada yada.  I'm a big make-up fan, but I also like to have a clean fresh face sans makeup while I'm lounging around.  I have been hearing some rave reviews about this thing so I thought I'd give it a try.  And supposedly I should see results within 4-6 weeks (if directions are followed properly).  To learn more about this product click here.  I will let you all know how well it worked on me. So stay tuned...

So are you a product-junkie like me?  If your cabinets and bathroom counters are stocked with all different kinds of beauty products then YES you are a Product-Junkie!  From make-up to skin-care, to hair-care to body-care do you try and test most of the products out there?  Is Sephora.com set as your home page and do you visit the site every chance you get?  Yikes that's ME!  My mother told me that when I was born, I came out with nail polish on my widdle piggie toes- oh my, so I guess it's in my blood!

Don't get me wrong- I'm certainly not to the extent where I would put my whole family on the streets because of my obsession.  That's pretty ridiculous and for those who do, maybe it's time to seek help.
I do a lot of research and review-readings before I make a purchase because I want to make sure that if I'm going to make an investment (I'm an advocate on investing in yourself- the ROI (return-on-investment) is awesome) that I'm going to benefit from it in some way.  But yes, there have been past purchases I've made where the product did not deliver what it was supposed to deliver.  But overall I usually come out pretty satisfied with most of my purchases.

So since the hubby did well on football-betting this past weekend, I came up with a scary plan!  I'm going to bet a small amount and I mean a small teeny tiny amount on NFL football this coming weekend (this is sooooo unlike me) and my winnings are going towards another product-purchase!  Yay!  (Wow that was spoken like a true junkie...)  I've been eye-ing the MakeUP Forever HD Foundation and Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Powder...mmmm..mm it's dreamy!

See you all at the make-up and beauty counters!
Ciao

Tip: Trim Inches Off Your Waist by...

Hello Dolls!

I wanna share a little tip on how to look slimmer, sexy, and beautiful especially when taking full-body photos or when you're walking around in your HOT bikini! (not that many of us are, especially since it's Fall season, but pocket this tip for when summer comes!)

Before my bellydancing days, I never really understood the importance of good posture (okay, well I understood it but never paid too much attention to it), even when I took ballet and jazz at a very young age and in high school, I was told to stand straight but it was never really broken down for me until I started taking some serious bellydancing classes.  Last night I was in class and I noticed in the mirror how my posture has improved.  Great posture just has a way of making you look so Delicious!  Not to mention, it will also make you look a few pounds slimmer!  But there's more to it than just standing up straight.

First let me share with you how I used to stand; When I was very young, I used to stand with my knees always locked because it was comfortable and it was like a support for my body, my butt would stick out, my shoulders slumped over and my head would fall above my chest (I just had a Scarecrow image from the Wizard of Oz).  This is not a pretty stance for a young girl but it became a comfortable habit for me.  About 6 years ago, my Gynecologist told me that I had a tilted pelvis (WTH?) which is the reason why my tailbone stuck out, developing this strong lower arch in my back (glad to know I wasn't intently showing off my assets to the world)!  I was also having serious back pains.  Fast forward many years later: my bellydance instructor tells me, "Chruszhet, stand shoulder-width apart, tuck that butt in, put your ribcage on a shelf, elongate your neck, and put some energy in those arms! Now look at the curves in your silhouette."  And she was right!  Yeah every now and then I do catch myself slouching with but sticking out and then I have to correct myself. And I've seen those old photos of me with bad posture- NO BUENO!  So here's how to look irresistibly delicious (I'm sure my bellydance sisters can attest to):

1.  Stand shoulder-width apart, with your weight evenly distributed throughout your feet.
2.  Tuck your pelvis (tailbone ) in, but not too much that you look like an animal from a National Geographic episode.
3.  Roll your shoulder blades back and down, causing your chest to lift up (as my instructor said- "put your ribcage on a shelf"). You should also feel your stomach muscles contract a bit
4.  Lift your head up (making those neck muscles long and strong)
5.  Put some energy in those arms, don't let them just dangle to your sides. (In dance, we have certain positions for our arms) but be natural

Ooooweee now look at yourself in the mirror! You will look much slimmer showing off your torso and you will also look and feel confident. Most importantly you will save yourself from a back injury.  So the next time someone wants to snap a photo of you, remember your posture and your SMILE   =D  !

It's about Looking good and Feeling Better!

How to Find the Best Fit When Purchasing Clothes Online

Okay Online Shoppers or Soon-to-be-Online Shoppers, I've got a few tips for you that have helped me with buying clothes online and I'm here to share them with you so grab your handy-dandy clothes tape measure!

1.  Yes, first grab that tape measure or if you don't have one, a ruler will work but keep in mind that since the ruler is flat it may be tough to wrap it around your body!  hehehe

2.  Remember that different brands of clothing run differently in sizes.  If you are buying an item from a certain manufacturer for the first time and you don't own any other piece of clothing from that manufacturer, it can be a challenge at first, but don't get discouraged we will and can fight through this!

3.  Use all the fitting info and sizing charts on the site.  This is the time to take your measurements and compare your measurements to the sizing charts (note: not all sizing charts are the same, a size 4 on one site can be equivalent to a size 6/8 on another site)

4.  Check all the feedback and reviews on that article of clothing that you are interested in purchasing.  A lot of buyers will give their input on whether or not the sizes run big or small.  Also they may add in a bit of info about the item like "the lapel of the tulip skirt keeps folding over when you walk" and you may not want to deal with such hassle.

5.  This one fits in with #2.  Stick with brands you are familiar with.  The sizing can give you a ballpark idea.

6.  Grab your favorite-fitting pair of jeans or pants, lay it on a flat surface and measure the waist across (x2), hips, inseam, the rise (from the crotch seam to the top of the waist) and use those measurements (especially when you don't have a tape measure and you're using a ruler).

7.  Grab your favorite sweater or blouse, lay it on a flat surface and measure the arms from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff, the width of the shoulders, and the length of the piece from neck to bottom hem.  Also don't forget to measure the width of the chest area (this can be the most important measurement for all of you who are well-endowed in your upper body or you can also donate some my way!  hahaha)

8.  Always check the website's return/exchange policy before submitting your order!  Most sites will offer free returns and exchanges.

9.  Buy two sizes and return one.  This is only economical if the site offers FREE returns!

10.  Last but not least, consult the site's fit specialist or call their toll free number and talk to a representative if you are having doubts about sizing!

In my 3+ years of being a work-at-home Mom, I have been doing most of my clothes and shoes shopping online, and have had to exchange only 1 item so far!  I even bought all my bridesmaid dresses online and all I had to do was alter the bottom hems.  Just think of all the gas you save, the stress of jam-packed and messy dressing rooms, and pushy sales people.  What I love the most is that I find some incredible deals and a lot unique stuff online.

Next week, I'll give you a few tips on buying shoes online!

I'd love to know if this post has helped you in any way!

Happy Online Shopping! Hugz & Kisses!

Closet Confession #1: I'm such a geek & a closet-cynic

Here's my very first confession: yes, I am a Geek!  Also deep-down somewhere I found myself to be a closet-Cynic.  (Although this may not be something that I'm proud to admit.)  Read more and you'll see why.

Over this past weekend I ventured on a trip to my local bookstore to buy a Robert Kiyosaki book that my author-friend recommended and while taking a quiet moment to myself on one of the bookstore's randomly located leather chairs.  I came across a humorous book that captured my undivided attention.  About 3 minutes into the book, I found myself chuckling at the oh-so-true observations of this little yellow book called Go Tweet Yourself by Janelle Randazza.  A funny book about Facebookers, Myspacers, Twitters, and all the other Online Social Networker groups (i.e. bloggers, LinkedIn socialites, etc) that we all fall into!  Oh yes, I am guilty of falling prey to pretty much all of those categories at some point or another or at least I've made a login ID in the past with the intention of actually being a member of those sites.  But, hey my optimism was what led me to sign up with some strange notion that my life would be somehow fulfilled by doing so.

The book is a summation of all the quirky things that people do or don't do and just straight up laughing about it (Enough is Enough: We don't want to see pictures from your business trip to Omaha.  We don't want to see what that random girl from study group is having for breakfast. And we certainly don't want a virtual drink) yeah- give me a real drink, darnnit!  And I have made similar observations myself, but never really came out in public like Randazza has.  I guess that makes me somewhat of a cynic, right?

In my hopes to share my fascination with my husband, I did my best in explaining the humor I found in the book, he throws me this strange look and classifies me as a full-fledged Geek!  Okay, I will declare to that affirmation.  If anything, I had a few good laughs and enjoyed my weekend being anti-social!

Let's laugh off some of that misery! hahahaha

Open Your Arms to Looking Good and Feeling Better

There's a lot to be said about looking good and feeling better!  The month of October is the perfect month to feel good about yourself.  Most of all, October just breathes "women empowerment"!  Of course, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is an indication that we all should be taking good care of our health.  Then there's the sudden changing of the weather from running outside in my long tank dress and open-toed sandals to leggings and tops with 3/4 sleeves.  It's also a great month to play "dress-up" and I'm not just talking about Halloween.  I'm talking about SHOES!  Yes, ladies, s-h-o-e-s!  If you know me well enough, there are not a lot of things I collect, but put me in a shoe store and I get mesmerized!

I collect all types of shoes, from inexpensive to expensive, from horribly-fitting to oh-so-comfortable-I-can't-believe-I'm-wearing-shoes!  There's no better accessory on a woman than a great pair of shoes.  They have the ability to make you feel...so feminine...so powerful...so flirtatious!  My favorite kind of shoes are the sexy, won't break the bank, but feel great on your feet type (needless to say it's my hubby's fav, too)!  Believe me, my household consists of 1 youngin', 1 pre-teen, and 3 expensive teenagers, a husband who loves football betting, and a very hungry mini-greyhound- I simply CAN NOT afford to break the budget.

So about 6 months ago, I signed up for an online shoe membership/shoe stylist.  I took their style test and based on my results, my "shoe stylist" picks out a selection of 5-6 shoes for me to choose from each month.  The shoes are high quality but yet inexpensive!  Ahhhhh! There IS a Shoe God!  So what is the cost, you ask?  I am happy to say the cost of the monthly membership including the 1 pair of shoes each month is only $39 (that comes with free shipping and no additional fees or contracts).  I am also a fan of the 'Skip A Month' option, if I don't see a pair I like or if money is a little tight that month, I am under no obligation to buy.  Another awesome feature is to ask for a new selection of shoes if the first selection isn't to your liking.  I'm not a paid spokesperson for them so you'll have to check it out for yourself.  Go to www.shoedazzle.com !  What's important is that I look good and feel good at the same time!

Regardless if shoes are your 'thang' or not, let's re-invent October as Women Empowerment month!  You all deserve to look good and feel better!

Big hugz to your hearts!

Great Deals on Cute & Sexy Halloween Costumes

Hey Bunnies,

I just found some great deals on cute Halloween Costumes that are around $17!

With the recession here but with Halloween around the corner, the heavens know I can not afford to splurge on some fancy costume that I will only wear once!!

I do have a nurse costume I got for FREE from someone who was just giving it away, stashed way back in my closet.  But I am a bit scared that it might be too cold for something so skimpy as a nurse's uniform...So I may be looking for an alternative.

Any-who I came across Mandee.com, while the selection isn't large, it may do for some of you.  Click on this
here link!  Or there's always ebay!!!

Which Sexy Wifey are you?

As most of you know...I loooooovvveeee shopping online for wild and crazy things and I found a great site with tons of Urban Fashion.  So I snatched me a WIFEY tshirt from a brand called TITS (Two In The Shirt)!!!

Which Wifey are You?  (I chose the second one- i love to bbq and I'm the one always in front of the grill.  And as for my Hubby- He loves it!)
Oh and the sizes run small so if you do order one get one size bigger!  Roll on over to
www.karmaloop.com and if you sign up for their newsletter they will give you $15 off your order!

Happy Shopping!

Want Your Face as Smooth as a Baby's Bottom...?

Hey lovelies,

If you are obsessed about having a super-clean and super-smooth face like I do and I mean SMOOOOOTH (very much like a baby's bottom) I highly recommend using Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion. I use it every 2-3 days and it helps minimize my pores. It's also a lot less expensive than going to get a Micro-Dermabrasion Treatment which can literally cost nearly $100/per treatment.

It has all natural ingredients like micronized shells, shea butter, and willow herb. It has a creamy but sandy texture that you scrub onto your face for no more than 2 minutes and then rinse off. Trust me, after you rinse and dry, take the back of your hand and feel the softness of your face! You will be amazed! Click here to go to the website. Try it and you just might fall in love all over again!

I love it- and I also ordered Kiehl's Pore Minimizing Moisturizer- it came over the weekend! Yay!

p.s. What is your skin-cleaning regimen?
