Yo! Check out my funky F-R-E-S-H J's (Jordans)! While my hubby and I were out shopping this weekend- he spotted these hi-top Jordans for me and he said they had my name written all over them! It's no wonder I married this man- he knows exactly what my style is!
The are black with black patent holographic trim- splashed with bright neon pink and green with an old-skool flair! I love them! But most of all I love my man!
While I'm a girly- girl and all- I have always had a love for urban streetwear. I grew up in the streets and in-the-not-so-rich-part-of-town and hi-top sneakers remind me of my childhood!! They send me on an adventure run of rainbow smileys... :o)))))
I was thinking of wearing them last night on our drive through town but it was raining and didn't want to get 'em wet! Maybe when it's shining bright with sunlight outside- I might just pull them babys out of the closet.
Okay well have a cheerful Tuesday even though it's not so sunny out!
Oh- and I will be posting a closet confession this week! Watch out for it!
I am soooo in the spirit of giving this season! With so many people out of jobs and out of homes, I realized that there are so many simple things that we normally take for granted. It made me shift my thinking just a little. The holiday season usually has me in the spirit of giving but this year it's a bit different, I prefer giving to the less fortunate, yes the family members will get their gifts of course- But I found myself giving more and donating more than ever before. I think I have done more searches on donating than on online shopping! It's the second week of December and I have only bought 2 Christmas gifts, one for my youngest son and the other for a close family friend. I have become more occupied with giving back!
A week ago, I helped fund a loan for a lady in the Philippines who raises pigs for a living to support her family of 8 children. I stumbled upon a great organization, www.kiva.org that allows entrepreneurs in developing countries to obtain a small loan to build their business. The funds that I loaned will eventually get repaid, which then gets put back into my account to help another entrepreneur in another country, if I wish. This week, I came across www.Soles4Souls.org Did you know that over 300 million children in the world do not own shoes? I can relate to this...as I was one of those poor children walking barefooted in the muddy terrain of a third world country (rewind back 28 years ago). Hence, my present-addiction to shoes. Now with my closet-full of shoes and a garage-converted-shoe-closet, I would love to give up some of my shoes for those who so need it!!! So if you are like me and are drowning in shoes, donate some of your gently used shoes. Or if you looooovve your shoes too much, you can donate $5 for a pair of flip flops or $10 for a pair of clogs. Please shoot me an email, to arrange that.
There are other ways to give as well- I have a friend who is asking for new items to go to the NV Partnership for Homeless Youth. Which is an awesome way to give to homeless children and teens who are in need of necessary items such as clothes, socks, and basic hygiene products, etc. If you have any items to give away, please let me know since items will be dropped off this Saturday.
Time is also another great resource that we have or don't have but is priceless nonetheless when we give away some of it. Time is such a valuable thing and by volunteering a few hours of your day at a soup kitchen or a shelter, it becomes sooo gratifying! There's a lot to be said about looking good and feeling better! The month of October is the perfect month to feel good about yourself. Most of all, October just breathes "women empowerment"! Of course, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is an indication that we all should be taking good care of our health. Then there's the sudden changing of the weather from running outside in my long tank dress and open-toed sandals to leggings and tops with 3/4 sleeves. It's also a great month to play "dress-up" and I'm not just talking about Halloween. I'm talking about SHOES! Yes, ladies, s-h-o-e-s! If you know me well enough, there are not a lot of things I collect, but put me in a shoe store and I get mesmerized!
I collect all types of shoes, from inexpensive to expensive, from horribly-fitting to oh-so-comfortable-I-can't-believe-I'm-wearing-shoes! There's no better accessory on a woman than a great pair of shoes. They have the ability to make you feel...so feminine...so powerful...so flirtatious! My favorite kind of shoes are the sexy, won't break the bank, but feel great on your feet type (needless to say it's my hubby's fav, too)! Believe me, my household consists of 1 youngin', 1 pre-teen, and 3 expensive teenagers, a husband who loves football betting, and a very hungry mini-greyhound- I simply CAN NOT afford to break the budget.
So about 6 months ago, I signed up for an online shoe membership/shoe stylist. I took their style test and based on my results, my "shoe stylist" picks out a selection of 5-6 shoes for me to choose from each month. The shoes are high quality but yet inexpensive! Ahhhhh! There IS a Shoe God! So what is the cost, you ask? I am happy to say the cost of the monthly membership including the 1 pair of shoes each month is only $39 (that comes with free shipping and no additional fees or contracts). I am also a fan of the 'Skip A Month' option, if I don't see a pair I like or if money is a little tight that month, I am under no obligation to buy.
