Product Review Update: Clinique Even Better

Back at the end of October, I started a new face regimen with Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Corrector.  And I said I would give you an update of how effective the product was in doing what it said it was supposed to do after 4 weeks.  My purpose in using the Skin Tone Corrector was to diminish the age spots (small brown spots) caused by sun damage as well as even out my complexion.

The package says the product will: "virtually undo the visible evidence of sun damage, dark patches, skin stresses, age spots, even the darkening that follows acne scarring."

Yes, I am happy to say that it is doing just that for me, it may be a slow process and can take a while to notice the results but the important part is that my $40 didn't just go to waste on another useless skincare item.  As you know results may vary on different individuals.  I will also say that the instructions ask that you apply it twice a day.  I have only had the chance to apply the product once a day and it seems to be working gradually.  If I can only remember to apply it twice a day on my face, I would probably see faster results.  Anyhow I would recommend this product to others.  But I will warn you that I have read mixed reviews and that it may not work on everyone, perhaps depending on your skin type.  (I have combination skin)  This is going to get 4 stars out 5 from me only because the small 1.0 ounce bottle is quite pricey for $40.

On a positive note- I am liking my clearer complexion.

Are You Loyal to Your Makeup?

I have been an avid M.A.C. cosmetics-user/collector for many years.  I am somewhat embarrased to say that I have spent a few thousand dollars in one year on M.A.C products (I know because I once spent all of my income tax refund check just on makeup alone- who does that, right?). I eventually had to sell what I was not using.  Am I addicted to M.A.C- umm maybe...ok yes!  But lately in the past year, I have been eye-ing other product lines.  I'm not cheating on M.A.C- maybe just taking a short separation.  Don't get me wrong, I still love M.A.C.  He has great eyeshadows, pigments, slimshine, fluidline, and brushes as well.  The best part about M.A.C is his recycling program.  Return 6 empty plastic containers and get one free lipstick!  Yay!  What other make-up line does that for you? (Oh did you notice me refer to MAC as a person...? To me- he is!)

So I'm due for more foundation and concealer and I'm thinking about trying MakeUp Forever or Giorgio Armani.  I've also ventured off and used Nars, Smashbox, Benefit, and Urban Decay.  There are many I would like to try, just hoping MAC doesn't get too jealous.  hehehe  This is where my product-junkie-self takes over.  But I feel that staying with MAC products for the rest of my makeup wearing life is being unfair to the other beautifully packaged and worthy products out there. I study quite a few professional make-up artists and yes M.A.C is just as much their household name as is Lysol, but there are other cosmetic lines that will do the job just as good or perhaps even better!

So the question for you all is, have you stuck with the same product line for quite some time?  If so, why the loyalty to one brand?

Dear MAC,
Don't hate me for this, but I would like to start seeing other brands.  Don't worry you're still my numero uno!  Trust me, it's not You, it's Me.  You've always been good to me.  I just feel like I'm missing out on something more exciting!  You still hold a place in my makeup bag and forever will.  Love, ME.

Closet Confession #2: I'm a Product-Junkie

Hello lovelies,

"Hi.  My name is Chruszhet (audience responce: Hello Chruszhet) and I'm a Product-Junkie!"  What can I say, it's so sad but true! This past weekend- I decided to accompany my Bestie to the mall (while our hubbies did their Sunday ritual- making a raucous in front of the big screen watching NFL football).  After scarfing down a Spam Musubi, I made my first purchase at the Clinique counter inside Macy's.  This is what I bought:

The Even Better Skin Tone Corrector

It's for correcting uneven skin tone and undo-ing visible sun-damage, dark spots, age spots, yada yada yada.  I'm a big make-up fan, but I also like to have a clean fresh face sans makeup while I'm lounging around.  I have been hearing some rave reviews about this thing so I thought I'd give it a try.  And supposedly I should see results within 4-6 weeks (if directions are followed properly).  To learn more about this product click here.  I will let you all know how well it worked on me. So stay tuned...

So are you a product-junkie like me?  If your cabinets and bathroom counters are stocked with all different kinds of beauty products then YES you are a Product-Junkie!  From make-up to skin-care, to hair-care to body-care do you try and test most of the products out there?  Is Sephora.com set as your home page and do you visit the site every chance you get?  Yikes that's ME!  My mother told me that when I was born, I came out with nail polish on my widdle piggie toes- oh my, so I guess it's in my blood!

Don't get me wrong- I'm certainly not to the extent where I would put my whole family on the streets because of my obsession.  That's pretty ridiculous and for those who do, maybe it's time to seek help.
I do a lot of research and review-readings before I make a purchase because I want to make sure that if I'm going to make an investment (I'm an advocate on investing in yourself- the ROI (return-on-investment) is awesome) that I'm going to benefit from it in some way.  But yes, there have been past purchases I've made where the product did not deliver what it was supposed to deliver.  But overall I usually come out pretty satisfied with most of my purchases.

So since the hubby did well on football-betting this past weekend, I came up with a scary plan!  I'm going to bet a small amount and I mean a small teeny tiny amount on NFL football this coming weekend (this is sooooo unlike me) and my winnings are going towards another product-purchase!  Yay!  (Wow that was spoken like a true junkie...)  I've been eye-ing the MakeUP Forever HD Foundation and Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Powder...mmmm..mm it's dreamy!

See you all at the make-up and beauty counters!
Ciao
